About Me
I was born and raised in Texas, where I graduated from the University of Houston in 2000. My love of the arts lead me to have two main studies; Interior Design and Painting- both of which I still love to do.
During my studies, I had occasions where a viewer would comment that my paintings were " Just so decorative..." - helping me to realize my specific focus in the arts was the field of Decorative Arts.
After graduating, I took up stained glass as a hobby, something I had always wanted to learn. I quickly grew to love everything about glass. A God-ordained trip to Mississippi yielded a job for me as a full-time stained glass artist, where my knowledge and abilities in the craft were developed in a 5 year stay as Color Management, glass cutter, and Residential Designer.
In my time there, the process of glass fusing was introduced to me, and I loved everything about it. It was to me, the perfect combination of my love of painting and love of glass. Each project seemed like a quick painting study, except it was executed in glass.
The basis of everything I create is my belief in God as the Ultimate Creator. In Genesis 1:26-27, God says [to Jesus and the Holy Spirit] "Let us create man in our image, in our likeness...So God created man in his own image." In light of this being spoken on the 6th day of creation, we are all clearly made in the image of One who is quite creative. Our gifts and abilities differ, but each of us bring glory to God when we shine in the ways he has equipped us. My prayer is that each of us would rejoice with one another as we operate within our giftedness.
I was accepted into the Mississippi Craftsman's Guild in March 2007. I am currently sharing my love of glass by offering classes through the Guild. I pray everyone may have a love and passion for what they do- may it get you up early and keep you up late! Be Blessed.
